Collie Farewells Robert Drown

Drown Retirement presentation

Collie Church of Christ honours Robert and Beryl Drown as they enter retirement after five years of ministering in Collie. There was an air of excitement as the congregation, family and friends met to express appreciation and wish Beryl and Robert well as they enter the next chapter of their life.

During the service Local Member, Mick Murray thanked Robert for his involvement in the town of Collie, especially for his involvement in addressing homelessness. Robert addressed the congregation with encouragement to pursue strongly three core issues: passion for God, commitment to personal growth and evangelism and discipleship of the members. Most moving was his personal and heartfelt public acknowledgement and appreciation for the unwavering support of his wife Beryl over forty five years of marriage and ministry.

Following the service there was a lovely sit down meal. Four people spoke briefly: Raewyn Jones spoke on behalf of YouthCARE regarding Robert’s support of school chaplains, Bob Grieg spoke on behalf of the Baptist Church of Collie, Ian Miffling represented the Collie council and community and Barry Thygesen welcomed Robert and Beryl into the adventurous chapter of retirement. A warm letter from Tania Watson on behalf COCWA was also shared.

We wish Robert and Beryl a well earned rest and the excitement of discovering God’s new purpose and avenues for influence and ministry.
