An Update from Bassendean

Theme Graphic.001

Bassendean Church of Christ gives thanks to the Lord for several recent baptisms and for the induction into membership of several new members. We have also been blessed with three weddings within our church fellowship in the past few months; our very own Pastor Mark and Annette Wilson, Isaac and Amy Street, and Ian and Tracy Hopkins.

In other news, we recently held our annual Stirling Ranges family camp. This is a very special camp for us, as it’s a real opportunity to get away from the distractions of life and have meaningful fellowship with each other. It’s also a wonderful setting to remember God’s gracious goodness displayed in His beautiful creation.

MISSION SUPPORT
For about 10 years now, we have held an annual Faith Promise Mission week, with speakers from various Mission groups, as well as a mid-week meeting with fresh updates from our mission families. This also incorporates our annual Faith Pledge Promises, where members, after prayer and searching, pledge an amount to be given for mission support,  to give over and above their general tithe, trusting the Lord to supply that need. There is also an opportunity for a commitment to contact, pray, email, send a card, letter, to our mission families. Church members have been loyal in supporting this work, and the Lord has been faithful in the regular amounts that have been raised, enabling more financial support to be forwarded to our nine mission families. They are truly thankful for our commitment.  The Mission Committee give praise and thanks to the Lord for His enabling.

Over the years, members from our church have had the privilege of joining the Impact Africa Team. Organised through Challenge Newspapers, this annual short-term mission trip to Johannesburg provides opportunities for sharing the gospel in prisons, slums and orphanages. Of the many blessings to come out of this mission trip, one is particularly special to us – at last year’s Impact Africa trip, our Associate Pastor, Mark Wilson, met the lovely Annette Fedson – they were married earlier this year and are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child – God is good! We have ten from our fellowship who are looking at going with the Impact Africa Team next year.

BUILDING RENOVATIONS
We are about to commence renovations and extensions to our amenities, which will see a new toilet block being constructed, and refreshing our youth group and Sunday School rooms. We are excited to begin this work, and are very thankful to God for His guidance and provision through the planning phase of this. If anyone has a trade and would like to be part of this work, please let us know.
