Easter at Bruce Rock

Bruce Rock

We showed the film, “Son of God” just prior to Easter and co-hosted the combined churches Palm Sunday
services. Also, during January, due to less holiday numbers, we met with the other Protestant churches for services in each church building. This is a yearly practice and is always an enjoyable time. Two or three craft groups, with community involvement are run in our church building, plus a ladies KYB Bible study. We have a core group of kids who come to Sunday Club, 7 beaut kids who love the Lord and really shine His light in their school and homes. 3 of our members visit the local school weekly to run Scripture in School classes, this is a vital ministry and we are thankful for the support of the school’s principal. Please have these ladies and the kids in your prayers.

A Community Opportunity shop is under our “Umbrella”, although not run by our folks nowadays. The daughter (plus others) of our oldest, beloved member, who passed away a couple of years ago, has taken over the whole project but still wishes to be under our Banner. We have recently sent donations to various Christian organisations, plus money for the Syrian Appeal, Bush fire Appeal, and an orphanage in New Guinea. We hosted the Community Christmas Carols service and were overjoyed to see many new faces, some of whom rarely ever set foot in a church. We have also donated towards the re-building of a church
in Fiji, which was flattened by Cyclone Winston. Our friends Tim and Lisa work with Homes of Hope in Fiji and thankfully are safe and sound, although they are certainly busy helping in the cyclone’s aftermath.

The Barrett-Lennard family have also recently been to East Arnhem Land, based in Nhulunbuy, for a second
short term (6 weeks) mission trip with Mission Aviation Fellowship where Matt, a pilot, was flying an Airvan. Natalie home schooled their 3 children and the whole family had a wonderful time of fellowship with co-workers and locals.

We continue to run without a pastor, and while it can be hard work, it has been a blessed time of learning and growing closer together as a fellowship of believers as well as with the Lord. We thank you for your prayers, and ask you to please pray…
– for the Arnold family after the tragic loss of 25 year old Jordan in a car accident this year
– for the continued support and encouragement of our Elders as they lead us
– for our Sunday Club and Scripture teachers and the kids
– praise God for our being welcomed into the school to teach God’s love
– praise God for the rain and pray for our farmers to look to Him only for our Daily Bread.
