The Story of Freo Church and Kiara Ashworth

On Mission page header

Kiara Ashworth is a lovely young girl of 11 years old who has been coming to Freo Church for a number of years with her mother, Shelley. She brings much joy to the people around her and wears a smile all the time while she is at church. Recently, she told her mother that she wishes to be baptised. However, her mother was hesitant, which is an unusual response. You see, Kiara suffers from mental disability. Shelley was wondering if Kiara has enough understanding of the Gospel to be baptised.

Kiara did not give up asking her mother. Eventually, Shelley told me about it and I sat down to have a chat with Kiara. It is a great encouragement and blessing from God to see the desire of this young lady to be baptised. Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. On the 6th of March 2016, Kiara Ashworth was baptised at Freo Church. It was the first baptism at the church building for more than 10 years.

The story of Kiara has also been the story of Freo Church over the past 2 years. The baptism is a sign of the continuing revitalisation of the church. God has been immensely good to us thus far, and we continue to pray for revival in the church. While we may not know exactly what will happen in the future, we trust God to do what is best for his kingdom as we faithfully preach his Word and proclaim the wonders of the Gospel of Jesus Christ every week. Please keep us in your prayers.
