What’s Happening in Noranda?

God placed Noranda on an amazing spiritual journey that started in 2011 when we as a church had to come face to face with reality of our dire financial circumstances. This prompted us to take action and forced us to take an honest look at what brought us to that point.

So our spiritual journey of repentance, forgiveness and submission to God began, changing the landscape and impacting the lives of his people, here at Noranda Church of Christ.

HIGHLIGHTS IN 2015
In less than four years our mortgage of almost $400,000 was paid off.

We saw 45% of our members and adherents attending Home Group meetings and Bible Studies.

A study on the Holy Spirit and another on Prayer in the second half of 2015 has had a significant spiritual impact upon our congregation including;

  • Increased attendance in Sunday Worship Services
  • A second midweek prayer meeting established
  • New singers and musicians taking up membership
  • Strong, healthy financial giving

Pastor Eion and the elders worked on a new Mission and Vision Statement which they felt would accurately represent Noranda and the direction in which God is leading his people. After much prayer and hard work the new Vision and Mission was introduced to the church through a series of sermons in October. There is a great sense of excitement and anticipation within the congregation as it brings clarity in direction and produces a sense of what it means to be part of the life and work of God at Noranda Church of Christ.

In December 2015 eight new people were received into membership and a further six will become members in February 2016.

Noranda in association with YouthCare are currently working towards placing “Buddy Benches” in every primary school in the Bayswater area. Buddy Benches are designed to deal with isolation and bullying in schools.

Noranda is also pleased to have Pastor Eion van Biljon’s contract extended for a further five years.
